About Me

Hello there, my name is Solveig, and thank you so much for stopping by my blog! I created this blog on June 12, 2012, with the idea of sharing my own healthy gluten-free vegan recipes.

Now a bit more about my life…

I am 16 years old, and I am born and raised in Norway. I currently live with my parents, little sister Emma, though I have two older sisters as well, our cat Milly and our boxer dog Tress. My path towards veganism started at the age of 8. It was at that time I decided to become a vegetarian, and by that I mean not consume any meat, fish or poultry. I made this decision because I loved animals so much and it did not feel right for me to show that by eating them. At first I did not really care for cooking or nutrition at all. I was the stereotypical unhealthy vegetarian that lived on frozen bean burgers, loaded with refined oils and starches, and shied away from eating vegetables. Needless to say, I did not care about my health one bit.

2011 was a trying year for me, and coming that fall I turned my unhealthy lifestyle completely around for the better. I started to exercise regularly and began eating a lot healthier. From my desire to live life to its fullest and eat as healthy as I possibly could, I became a vegan. Not long after that I discovered that I have sensitivity to gluten, which gave me another thing to be aware of. Having my parents make me food was therefore a big challenge, so I started making dinner by myself. It proceeded to me making dinner for my entire family, and always making the food when we were hosting guests, regardless if they were vegan or not.

After the feedback I got from my test subjects (my parents, sisters and friends), I decided to create a blog with all my recipes. My blog mainly revolve around tasty, healthy, vegan recipes, all of which are also gluten-free, without having to sacrifice good taste. I want to share what I learn during my cooking experiences, and prove that being vegan is certainly not boring, if anything it is more exciting than eating the “standard” diet.

My goal is to hopefully inspire other people to turn over their eating habits to what is best for their health, as well as the environment and the animals, without them feeling like they have to give up the foods they love.

  1. I'm so glad I found this blog! I've been trying to eat healthier for the past couple of months, though I am not a vegetarian. I always wanted to be one, but couldn't quite make up my mind. However I feel that cooking recipes from this blog is definitely a step in the right direction. Baby steps, I suppose...:)
    Have a good day! ;)

    1. Thank you so much for commenting, and I could not agree more about changing the habits slowly. I did not go completely cold turkey (pun intended) either :) I started with not eating any red meat, then one month later I cut out poultry as well, and within another month I stopped eating fish. But I mainly did that because my parents were not completely accepting at first, since I was only 8 years old hehe. I am currently writing on another page that I will upload here about the benefits of going vegan, as well as some tips to make it easier, so you might find that to your liking!
Again, thank you for stopping by and let me know if there is anything you are wondering about! ;)

  2. Wow 16? I'm 18 and I just went from being vegaterian for a year to now vegan because people like u inspire me. I live in a huge family (8 of us in one house) there vegaterian but ...(not all the time. My sisters have meat sometimes) mu parents made a rule that no meat was aloud in the house but outside the house they can eat meat. But it's been over a year and in the only one in my house still going strong. Being vegan has changed my life and it's only been almost 2 months lol u are my inspiration. I make vegan cupcakes for my fam and they couldn't belive it was vegan. (haha) thanks again :)

    1. Thank you so much for your comment! Wow, 8 people is a massive family, we are 6 all in all and I feel like we have a big family :P I am so glad that you find my blog helpful, and that you made the decision to become a vegan. Like you said it completely changes your life, for the better! After being vegan for so long, I still get somewhat surprised when people thinks that vegan baking (and cooking in general) is impossible. I sometimes wish that everyone would try to go vegan for a month. It would definitely be very few people that decide to include animal products into their diet again.
Again thank you so much for commenting, and know that it is people like you who inspire me to keep coming up with new recipes and blogging. )

    1. Nope, no coffee. I do not really like the idea of getting addicted to it in order to get up in the morning or to get energy. I also do not think that caffeine is good for you, and I only drink decaf/caffeine-free tea :)

  4. Wow I'm so glad I was able to find not only a great vegan blog, but a gluten-free one as well. I've only recently started eating vegan. I also don't know if I have a sensitivity to gluten, but I know a lot of breads made me feel sluggish and gross so now that theres all these recipes, I wont have to worry about what to make!

Thank you so much for visiting my site! All the comments are read and greatly appreciated. If you have a question leave it here, I will respond as soon as time allows.
